The World’s Top 10 Best Things Made With Refuse Skips
Dumpster made into Car
I HATE gardening! I have tried, and tried to enjoy it, but just don’t
like it. I do gardening in fits and phases, so when I am feeling “up
for it” I will have a go. And this week I have been trying to get rid of
a load of bricks from an old wall, so what I did was higher a rubbish
skip. The problem was that after I chucked some dirt and loose gravel
into it, it then started to rain and filled up! Right now it is sat in
the front garden looking like a tramps swimming pool! But that gave me
an idea…
The World’s Top 10 Best Things Made With Refuse Skips
Dumpster made into swimming pool
10 – Not as rubbish as it seems!
I rather like this idea of a skip turned into a swimming pool since I first saw it in my post “Top 10 Non Genuine Parts” the only difference is that this one is done rather well with swimming pool tiles and a pool ladder attached for easy access.
Dumpster made into car park
9 – “Everyone try and remember where we parked!”
While this seems like nothing more than a funny image, it is in fact a
statement, because this car belongs to someone who refused to park in
the paid car-park and instead parked in a disabled bay without any right
to be there! So the local rugby team who had heard the argument take
place, picked up the guys car and kindly trashed it for him!
Dumpster made into art
8 – Art can sometimes be rather rubbish!
When is a rubbish skip worth £95, 000? It seems the answer is when it
is a work of art by “David Batchelor” for a arts festival in Brighton,
UK. Best of all is the amazing name he used to capture the essence and
soul of the art work, he called it…”skip”…please shot me.
Dumpster made into garden
7- The Dumpster Planter
Not a bad idea at all, what at first looks like a rather imaginative
skip planter is in fact a work of art called “SkipWaste” by Oliver
Bishop-Young! Best of all about this one is that the image link goes to a
top 10 post “10 Guerrilla Gardens from Around the World“.
Dumpster made into Boat
6 – Pirates of the Dumpsterbean
To showcase the evolution of a boat this TV presenter “Tom Cunliffe”
decided to make a boat made almost entirely out of a skip! Despite me
trying my best I couldn’t find anything else out about it, because for
some reason I would love to know more!
Dumpster made into Car
5- They don’t call them mobile rubbish tips for nothing!
This rather amazing mobile skip was seen at the ‘Wheels Day’ event
in Aldershot, UK and just cracked me up from moment I saw it. In fact I
would go so far as to tell you all that it reminded me of my first car!
(A Morris Minor) because that drove much like a skip as well!
Dumpster made into Hot Tub
4- The Bubbly Dumpster!
Can’t afford a hot tub? Well why not do what Michel de Broin did and
turn a skip into a hot tub! This rather odd recycling hack can hold a
very impressive 1649 litres of water! And after a hard days dumpster
diving you might well need one of these to unwind.
Dumpster made into Coffee Shop
3- This isn’t Starbucks!!!
Rikkert Paauw and Jet van Zwieten turned ordinary dumsters into
coffee shops and drinks bars in Ultrecht, Netherlands. The project
called “Straatlokaal” was to make people think about waste removal,
recycling and reusing. I’ll have a double junkachino please!
Dumpster made into half pipe
2- Grind the skip and gain some air!
How much fun can a skip that has been turned into a half-pipe really
be? Well it seems that once again artist Oliver Bishop-Young (from
number 7) decided to find out! I love skateboarding so I would
definitely have to have a go in this.
Dumpster made into Ping Pong table
1 – You played like rubbish! But I blame the table.
Seems you really can play Ping Pong anywhere with this rather
creative skip tuned into a games table! Not a bad idea at all, and if
the worst happens and you play badly, you could claim it was not a
regulation table.
